宮城県出身。国立音楽大学卒業。同大学院修了。二期会オペラスタジオ修了。文化庁オペラ研修所修了。第8回日本声楽コンクール第１位。第69回日本音楽コンクール第3位入賞。同時に優れた日本歌曲の演奏者に授与される木下賞を受賞。第5回藤沢オペラコンクール第2位入賞など、数々の栄誉に輝く。文化庁派遣芸術家在外研修員としてイタリア・ボローニャにてバリトンのパオロ・コーニのもと研修を積む。03年アテネで開催された「国際ミトロプーロス声楽コンクール」で最高位入賞（順位なし）。入賞者記念コンサートと表彰式がギリシャ国内でテレビ放送された。これによりアテネ五輪の文化事業の一環として05年アテネのヘロド・アティクス野外劇場でオペラ『エウメニデス』（世界初演）に出演。これまで『フィガロの結婚』アルマヴィーヴァ伯爵、『セビリアの理髪師』フィガロ、『トロヴァトーレ』ルーナ伯爵、『カルメン』エスカミーリォなどの他、99年新国立劇場・二期会共催公演 原嘉壽子作『罪と罰』（初演）、2000年には二期会公演『魔笛』、02年新国立劇場小劇場オペラ『賢い女』に出演。古典から現代オペラまで幅広い作品で高い評価を得ている。03年秋には日生劇場開場40周年記念特別公演ベルク『ルル』（3幕版/日本初演）に出演し好評を博した。06年東京二期会『ラ・ボエーム』マルチェッロ、07年新国立劇場『西部の娘』ベッロ、09年6－7月佐渡裕プロデュースオペラ『カルメン』エスカミーリョ、東京二期会『ラ・ボエーム』マルチェッロ、同『カプリッチョ』伯爵等出演。近年では、2014年2月東京二期会『ドン・カルロ』ロドリーゴ、5月新国立劇場『カヴァレリア・ルスティカーナ』アルフィオ、7月同鑑賞教室『蝶々夫人』シャープレス、15年2月東京二期会『リゴレット』タイトルロール、6月新国立劇場『沈黙』ヴァリニャーノ、16年2月東京二期会『イル・トロヴァトーレ』ルーナ伯爵等に出演。
コンサートにおいてもヘンデル「メサイア」、ブラームス「ドイツ・レクイエム」、フォーレ「レクイエム」、オルフ「カルミナ・ブラーナ」等や、ドイツ・リート、日本歌曲の演奏会に出演し、いずれも好評を博す。12年ＮＨＫニューイヤーオペラコンサートでも『カルメン』エスカミーリョの演唱で聴衆を魅了した。クラシカル・クロスオーバー「The　JADE（ザ・ジェイド）」メンバー。二期会会員
